TED BAKER

Contrary to popular belief, TED BAKER is a fictitious character, created by Ray Kelvin the founder and chief executive.
Before starting Ted Baker, Kelvin supplied private-label clothing to stores such as Burton. He decided that if he wanted to build a business that “really meant something”, he would have to create a brand.
He created the brand TED BAKER as he didn’t dare name his new fashion company after himself for fear it would not work.
And so from a shirt shop in Glasgow TED BAKER was born. TED BAKER do not advertise, and the success has been down to the strength of its brand and a relentless focus on design.
